2nd ever rehearsal with this line up
not shure if Kjetil Skjæveland and Jørgen Sørbø
had rehearsed at all before this, it sounds like Jørgen had gotten to know the material a little better than Kjetil, maybe he is just low-key, but when you listen closely, its incredibly well played ! here the band is a little more prepared than the first rehearsal five days before this. i remember panickly listen to the first rehearsal as i had recorded for the purpose of learning the songs.
Now some 7 years later these are to me lost gold and brings up only good memories of a fantastic band, who sadly were to disband. the reason were never truly given to me.....but after 3 rehearsals and one fantastic concerti were lucky to assemble a LP with guidance from . Svein, the chief. i remember getting home around 20 or so cd-r`s, and noticed this so called "Street Lights" test recordings (though the song were not on, sadly, and i think it only exist in live and rehearsal form) and i went straight to work, asking svein what is this recording (5 or 6 songs) he shrugged it off quite quickly, but after some though, he agreed there were something there. the performance is top notch, if a litle "tired" which i thought benefited the band (i think it were recorded 2009-2012 sometime)
note, their official drummer who performed on their debut album, which is their only official one, released on CCAP 2008 quit ALL the time, i substituted now and then, and on this recording i were informed the drummer were a certain Endre Landnes, besides this the line up is the same as when the band started in 2006-2007, morphing out of Sleepyard, infact I performed alot of the Third Avenue material under Sleepyard during 2005-2006. I think various band members had different ambitions as i recall it. Oliver were tired of live performing and wanted only to do studio work, Tom-Erik were invited to join more fully (2005-2013) while Svein and Øystein, which both were ex members of Sleepyard (2005-2006) wanted to play live, and rehearse as a band, so they grabbed Roffe and their first drummer who came and went. They adopted a handful of Sleepyard songs to perform, record and develop as Oliver were by then (2006/2007) totally sick of anything but ambient, musique concrete and more abstact forms for music, and not pop, rock, country or anything that might resemble what Third Avenue became......The Grand Turn im not shure sold well, but there is live footage in Oslo during the release, and also a video were made for "Ten To Fastlane" what happened during 2008 and the aborted (probably) 2nd album (which 5 songs were totally remixed by Tom-Erik for inclusion on the LP only aply called "Bootleg" (my guess is that the band had quit, and not all members were happy with these recorings, i think Tom-Erik`s remix of them proved them wrong, and there some kind of proof with the song "Walk Of Shame" which on the DIGITAL Edition of "Bootleg" (FREE here :
ur-recordings.bandcamp.com/album/bootleg-10-year-anniverary-edition) which is added as original mix here, along with the sublime remix......
Well the band did a VERY STRONG second rehearsal.......
and next and LAST rehearsal before the farewell concert Tom-Erik had gotten around to get his own drumset.....
